Do you accept my insurance? I accept most major insurances including Kaiser, Anthem, Aetna. Blue Shield, Lyra, and Cigna. Additional options should be available by Fall 2024. To discuss specifics about your insurance and your needs, contact me here.
What can I expect in the first session? First session is primarily used to review the treatment process, answer questions, and get to know each other. Many of my clients have trouble with their symptoms so I like to discuss a tool or two to help with some immediate relief, if applicable.
What do you use for remote online therapy? For teletherapy, I comply with all three forms of HIPPA compliant form of communication so that you can feel comfortable with our private and confidential conversations. I hard wire into a private and secure internet source for the best connection. I use a backup plan, such as calling you on a different line, to reduce the risk of interrupted conversation.
What if I don't live in your area? For California residents, I offer teletherapy sessions. Teletherapy is phone or video therapy sessions. It provides convenience and accessibility when it's hard or impossible to come into my office. The video sessions are through a secure HIPPA platform for your security. This platform is provided by me and comes at no cost to you. Before starting teletherapy, we will discuss if the platform is an appropriate fit for your clinical concerns.
What is the length and consistency of sessions? Sessions are usually held on a weekly basis for a 50-55 minutes. Session duration can vary from person to person, depending on area of focus. Generally, at least 12 sessions are recommended. We will create an individualized plan for you together when we meet.
What if I want to end therapy? You have the right to terminate therapy at any time. What if I'm working with other providers? It's generally recommended that if multiple service providers are working with the same individual or family, that they can communicate for continuity of your care. Whether you're working with a Psychiatrist, MD, case carrier, Inpatient Care Facility, or Behavior Specialist, it's not a problem! Similarly, if you're working with another Therapist then it won't be a problem so long as we are addressing different areas. As is discussed in the confidentiality agreement, nothing can be discussed without your consent and approval. Am I obligated to meet you after our consultation? No. I offer a complimentary phone call where you can ask any additional questions that you may have, discuss your schedule, and your individual needs. If you feel that I'm not the right for you or your loved one, I'm happy to offer an additional referral, if applicable, with someone I trust.
